Puerta Bonita is about to become a real production center, as it happens every year when the production week comes. Between march 11th and 20th the skills achieved by the second course students will be assessed through the real projects they have to do, just before starting their apprenticeship period.
Graphic Arts students will do the following projects: bags and t-shirts; postcards with pictures of the potography students; vinyl stickers; digital magazine; offset magazine; calendar. Some projects will be based on the 75th anniversary of Orson Welles radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds.
Audiovisual students will do the following projects: Executive production; short film; pedagogica game; developing of the web of Platos Rotos urban trend festival; making of; masterization of MTLP2011; a gig of Cool Jazz Quarter which will be recorded, mixed and masterized; radio program; TV program; two photographic projects; closing ceremony. After the sucessful first meeting which took place in Denmark about four mounths ago, the second mobility within the Leonardo Project Link was done. The vocational training school Amisto, located in Porvoo (Finland), was the host scholl this time. Four teachers and four students from Puerta Bonita attended to this meeting. The goal of this mobility was the control of the quality in the offset print workflow and the digital potography. They printed the covers of a magazine made by students of the project.
Puerta Bonita has recently joined the project Building sustainable Community-based Youth TV, led by Dublin Community Television (DCTV). What the project tries is put in contact around 40 institutions -companies, schools and students- that comes from 12 european countries, which are willing to exchange opinions and experiences about sustanaible community-based TV. The project is developed within the "Youth in Action Programme" framework.
A preliminary meeting regarding the development of european projects took place in Puerta Bonita on december the 13th and the 14th. GLR from Rotterdam, KTS from Copenhagen, St. Gallen Institute from Switzerland and IES Pere Martell from Barcelona attended to this meeting.
The seminar "A meaningful, creative and safe use of the ITC in the school" took place in Puerta Bonita on decembre the 6th. It is included in the Comenius Regio Project joined by the following institutions: Parma region, Educational administration of the Madrid region, Quality improvement department of the Madrid region and two childhood education institutions and one secondary school from Madrid.
Applied Innovation Project
Fpempresa keep going one year after its outset. A lot of vocational training schools are connected to each other through the asociation and the web site www.fpempresa.es, both of which created within the project.
II Photographic Competition
The II Photographic and Graphic Design competition has recently started. The competition is open to students of IES Puerta Bonita.
The students of IES Puerta Bonita have been making during their second year TV reports about the working protocols implemented in the Leonardo Da Vinci vocational training institute, specificly in the field of health care. Students and teachers of this institute came to the recording of magazines focused on the same topic and explained how the institute works.
The Red Cross volunteers came to Puerta Bonita on January 23th to ask support for their donating blood campaign, as it happens every year. 83 people, including students and workers, tried to donate blood, although only 64 of them were allowed to do it.
The following courses have been given in Puerta Bonita during December, January and February: interactive boards, Final Cut Pro and Movie Magic Scheduling. The aim of all of them has been improve the skills of the teachers in this tools.
The students and teachers of Puerta Bonita could enjoy the outstanding audiovisual works made by young people from Villa de Lautaro (Chile) and from Esmeraldas (Ecuador). The works are included in the project Free Schols, which is developed by the NGO Mundo Libre, and try to help young people at risk of social exclusion showing them alternative ways of improving their upbringing and personal development. The goal is begin an upward spiral in the long term for the whole comunity in which the NGO is working. Rolando Carileo, president of Mundo Libre, give a lecture about the works, the situation of the community and the expectations for the NGO.
The National Congress of the spanish branch of the Audio Engineering Society took place in Puerta Bonita on February 18th.

The students of second year of Audiovisual Production have recently received a course of Final Cut Pro to add important skills, which are no included in the official curricula, to their profiles.
The students of Design, Publishing Production and Production in Graphic Arts Industry went to the exhibition of Saul Bass' film posters, which took place in Circulo de Bellas Artes de Madrid.
The students of Audiovisual Production attended to a technical visit in Teatro Real on January 21th. They could learn how the setting up of an opera is, what the different production roles do and how diverse the theatrical machinery is. They became astonished checking how large the stage is, as large as a 22 storey building.
Students and teachers of Production in Graphic Arts Industries, Design and Publishing Production visited National Library Museum on February 7th.

X DESIGN COMPETITION TORRASPAPEL
The participants have to design a bookmark. The topic is nature live and they must include the logo of Torras Papel.
IES Puerta Bonita in GREM 21
Two reports about Puerta Bonita have been published on the magazine of the Graphic Arts companies association. One of them about Graphic Industries Forum, which was within Comunicarte 2012. The other one about a workshop organised by Kodak.
Platos Rotos, Urban Trend Festival, in Magisterio magazine
A report about Platos Rotos Festival has been published on Magisterio magazine. Mabel López and Francisco González, the teachers who are in charge of the project, speak about the goals of the project, which was awarded with a Honourable Mention in the National Awards of Educatuional Innovation.

Porvoo Vocational College, Amisto is a mordern, versatile institution operating in four different locations in the region of Itä-Uusimaa, 45 kms fron the metropolitan area of Helsinki. Amisto offers education in various study lines in the youth sector. Courses take tree years to complete and grant the student vocational qualifiation as defined by the Finnish Board of Education.
Currenty Amisto has 1150 students studying tourism, hairdessing, safety and security, graphic design and printing, practial nursing and technical subjects among others.
